Product Information

Loxoprofen is a monocarboxylic acid and a member of cyclopentanones, derived from propionic acid by substituting one hydrogen at position 2 with a 4-[(2-oxocyclopentyl)methyl]phenyl group. It functions as a prodrug that is rapidly converted into its active trans-alcohol metabolite upon oral administration. It acts as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, a non-narcotic analgesic, an antipyretic, and an inhibitor of EC 1.14.99.1 (prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase). It is also the conjugate acid of loxoprofen(1-).
