Tasimelteon is a 1-benzofuran derivative containing a propionamide group with one amide hydrogen replaced by a [(1R,2R)-2-(2,3-dihydro-1-benzofuran-4-yl)cyclopropyl]methyl group. It is a melatonin receptor agonist used to treat non-24-hour sleep-wake disorder. It functions as a monocarboxylic acid amide, belongs to the classes of 1-benzofurans and cyclopropanes, and is structurally related to propionamides.
