Apremilast is an isoindole-1,3-dione substituted at position 4 with an acetamido group and at position 1 with a 1-(3-ethoxy-4-methoxyphenyl)-2-(methylsulfonyl)ethyl group. It is used in the treatment of psoriatic arthritis and functions as a phosphodiesterase IV inhibitor and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug.
