Flufenamic acid is an aromatic amino acid derived from anthranilic acid with an N-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl group. It functions as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, non-narcotic analgesic, antipyretic, and inhibitor of EC 1.14.99.1 (prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase). It is also a conjugate acid of flufenamate, an organofluorine compound, and is structurally related to diphenylamine, anthranilic acid, and (trifluoromethyl)benzene. It is used in the treatment of rheumatic disorders.
