3-Nitropropanoic acid is a C-nitro compound derived from propanoic acid by replacing one methyl hydrogen with a nitro group. It functions as a neurotoxin, an inhibitor of EC 1.3.5.1 [succinate dehydrogenase (quinone)], an antimycobacterial drug, and a mycotoxin. It is related to propionic acid and is the conjugate acid of 3-nitropropanoate. It is also a tautomer of 3-aci-nitropropanoic acid.
