3-Methylhistidine

N(pros)-methyl-L-histidine is a L-histidine derivative substituted with a methyl group at the 3-position of the imidazole ring. It functions as a human and Saccharomyces cerevisiae metabolite, and is a non-proteinogenic L-alpha-amino acid. It is a tautomer of the N(pros)-methyl-L-histidine zwitterion.
