GW 501516 is an aromatic ether and monocarboxylic acid, specifically phenoxyacetic acid with a methyl group at position 2 of the phenyl ring and a (1,3-thiazol-5-ylmethyl)sulfanediyl group at position 4. The 1,3-thiazolyl group is substituted at position 2 with a p-trifluoromethylphenyl group and at position 4 with a methyl group. It acts as a PPARβ/δ agonist and is a carcinogenic agent. It is also a member of 1,3-thiazoles, an organofluorine compound, an aryl sulfide, and an aromatic ether.
