(S)-Timolol (anhydrous) is the (S)-(-) enantiomer of timolol, the more active form. It is a beta-adrenergic antagonist used in the management of glaucoma, hypertension, angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, and migraine prevention. It functions as an antiglaucoma drug, antihypertensive agent, anti-arrhythmia drug, and beta-adrenergic antagonist. It is the conjugate base of (S)-timolol(1+), and an enantiomer of (R)-timolol. Its hemihydrate and maleate salt forms are utilized.
