Monobenzyl phthalate is a phthalic acid monoester formed by the condensation of one carboxy group of phthalic acid with the hydroxy group of benzyl alcohol. It is a major metabolite of the plasticizer butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP). It functions as a xenoestrogen and xenobiotic metabolite, and is related to benzyl alcohol.
