Lumiracoxib is a monocarboxylic acid and amino acid derived from phenylacetic acid, substituted at position 2 with the nitrogen of 2-chloro-6-fluoroaniline and at position 5 with a methyl group. It is a highly selective cyclooxygenase 2 inhibitor and a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. Previously used for osteoarthritis, it was withdrawn due to concerns about hepatotoxicity. It is also an organofluorine, organochlorine, secondary amino, and monocarboxylic acid compound.
