Finafloxacin is a quinolone, specifically 4-oxo-1,4-dihydroquinoline-3-carboxylic acid, substituted at positions 1, 6, 7, and 8 with cyclopropyl, fluoro, hexahydro-pyrrolo[3,4-b][1,4]oxazin-6-yl, and cyano groups, respectively. It is an antibiotic used to treat acute otitis externa caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus. It functions as an antimicrobial agent and antibacterial drug. It is also a monocarboxylic acid, organofluorine compound, secondary and tertiary amino compound, nitrile, and member of cyclopropanes.
