Ravuconazole is a triazole compound with a 1-butyl-1H-1,2,4-triazole core, where the butyl group at positions 2, 2, and 3 is substituted by hydroxy, 2,4-difluorophenyl, and 4-(p-cyanophenyl)-1,3-thiazol-2-yl groups, respectively (the R,R stereoisomer). It inhibits 14α-demethylase, an enzyme in sterol synthesis, leading to fungal cell wall lysis and cell death. It functions as an ergosterol biosynthesis inhibitor, antifungal drug, EC 1.14.14.154 inhibitor, and antileishmanial agent. It belongs to triazoles, fluorobenzenes, tertiary alcohols, 1,3-thiazoles, and nitriles.
