Product Information

Phevalin is a pyrazin-2(1H)-one with isopropyl and benzyl substituents at positions 3 and 6, respectively. It is a natural product of Staphylococcus aureus that inhibits calpain (IC50 = 1.3 μM) and affects human keratinocyte gene expression. It contributes to S. aureus infection in mice and functions as a bacterial metabolite and calpain inhibitor. It belongs to the classes of benzenes and pyrazinones.
