Product Information

Olsalazine is an azobenzene composed of two molecules of 4-aminosalicylic acid linked by an azo bond. It serves as a prodrug for mesalazine, an anti-inflammatory agent, and is used as the disodium salt in treating inflammatory bowel disease. It is a dicarboxylic acid, a member of azobenzenes, and functionally related to salicylic acid. It is also the conjugate acid of olsalazine(2-).
