Product Information

Abiraterone acetate is a sterol ester formed by the condensation of the 3-hydroxy group of abiraterone with the carboxy group of acetic acid. It functions as a prodrug that is converted in vivo to abiraterone. Used in the treatment of metastatic castrate-resistant prostate cancer. It acts as a prodrug, an antineoplastic agent, and an inhibitor of EC 1.14.99.9 (steroid 17alpha-monooxygenase). It is a sterol ester and a pyridine derivative, functionally related to abiraterone.
