Tylosin is a macrolide antibiotic, tylonolide, with mono- and diglycosyl groups attached to two of its hydroxy groups. It is a natural fermentation product of *Streptomyces fradiae*, functioning as a bacterial metabolite, allergen, xenobiotic, and environmental contaminant. It is an aldehyde, disaccharide derivative, enone, leucomycin, monosaccharide derivative, and macrolide antibiotic, and is functionally related to tylactone. It is the conjugate base of tylosin(1+).
