Tacedinaline is a benzamide formed by the formal condensation of the carboxy group of 4-acetamidobenzoic acid with one amino group of 1,2-phenylenediamine. It is an oral cytostatic drug with differential activity against leukemic cells and normal stem cells. Used in combination therapy for non-small cell lung, pancreatic, breast, and colorectal cancers. It functions as an EC 3.5.1.98 (histone deacetylase) inhibitor and antineoplastic agent. It belongs to acetamides, benzamides, substituted anilines, and is functionally related to 1,2-phenylenediamine.
