Product Information

Butenafine is trimethylamine with hydrogen atoms on different methyl groups replaced by 1-naphthyl and 4-tert-butylphenyl groups. It inhibits squalene epoxidase, an enzyme involved in sterol synthesis in fungal cell membranes, and is used as its hydrochloride salt to treat dermatological fungal infections. It functions as an EC 1.14.13.132 (squalene monooxygenase) inhibitor and is a tertiary amine and a naphthalene derivative.
