LCL161 is a small molecule IAP inhibitor with potent antitumour activity in solid tumours. In HCC, its therapeutic response is mediated by Bcl-2 expression. It functions as an antineoplastic agent and apoptosis inducer. Chemically, it is an aromatic ketone, a monofluorobenzene, a N-acylpyrrolidine, a 1,3-thiazole, and a L-alanine derivative.
